Aimee:How am I going to find someone to help me?
Tania: You have had Eloise in your group for 2 years, isn't she an expert
Aimee: Not her, how could she, I mean her of all people, I need someone else, older stronger, louder, quieter, just somebody else.
Eloise turns away as she approached the door, having heard all that she needed to hear.
'I tried so hard.' she thought, 'I sacrificed so much I have right anymore than the next person. WHATS WRONG WITH ME?'Many of us may relate to the painful experience of having your confidence shattered, an experience which can follow you for years, and may leave you never the same. I too have taken a beating to my confidence several times, and believe me it stings. Just like when you fall on the floor and even though you are not cut but the graze that you obtain, burns even worse that if you would have cut yourself.
Whether your experience was being put down because of you age, your height, weight and any other thing that you can think of, the best and most effective way to deal with it is to:
STEP 1: Analyse if there is any truth in what is being said, there is no point putting yourself down if its something that you can easily change. For example, if at work you always late nobody will ever rely on you to open the office, it wouldn't be favoritism if your Boss chooses another employee who comes early to work.
STEP 2- Ask for God's immediate help to change what you have found wrong, and if you have not found any faults- ask God to sooth the sting my giving you strength to pick yourself up and forget about what was said or done. Holding grudges will only cause your destruction spiritually, because it suffocates you connection to God. Remember that many situations only serve to make us stronger and more mature.
STEP 3- There is no use putting yourself down because of the standards of imperfect people. Nobody is perfect and remember that! Just because someone does not see any value in you does not mean God and others don't. You may say that many people have treated you in this way but you can always be sure that there is one that hasn't and that's God. Remember that a lot of rubbish to men, can be just one Man's treasure.
Stay Blessed
